Wrote an article titled "Do professional athletes have an obligation to speak to the media?" In his article, his short answer to the question of whether athletes should talk to the media is a simple yes. According to Ostiller, speaking to the media is part of an athlete's job and the athletes knew what they were getting into when they signed their lucrative contracts. Ostiller's approach to the topic is also from the fan's perspective stating, "For a certain fan, this is an important window into a player and provides the type of relationship he or she desires." In his argument, Ostiller believes that with money comes fame and that with fame actually comes interaction with those who made you famous. Through the eyes and mind of Ostiller, it is the duty and privilege of athletes to speak to the media and simply giving back to those who have given them so much can be achieved by speaking to the media.
