I. IntroductionDevelopment is for the people, of the people and by the people. The development studies literature finds that the discussion has evolved from the economic aspect to a holistic approach to the issue. The debates on the issue seem to respond to one aspect of man: the fundamental needs approach sees development in satisfying his material needs, while the capabilities approach sees development in the expansion of man's capacity to be the manager of your own development. Both approaches are valuable in themselves, but both must be considered with the awareness that man is at the center of development. He is in fact the material, formal, efficient and final cause of development. Man is the beginning, the means and the end of every development effort. However, which of these two aspects of development should be given priority depends on the knowledge of its supporters and advocates of who and what man is. This essay will develop through 1) A discussion of what the terms development and sustainable development mean and imply; 2) The underlining of development objectives; and 3) An explanation as to why freedom education is necessary for greater sensitivity to cultural traditions.II. Development for what development is usually defined “as significant and measurable economic growth and the emergence of social, economic and political institutions”. Development is clearly a process that involves empirically verifiable change within a given period, thus making the element of time a central factor. This can be observed, for example, when assessing notable differences in the situation from the start of an intervention until such involvement ceases. Intermediate measurements could also be carried out to verify the effectiveness of the proposed solutions, of the traditions of the various peoples, with which the individual defines himself in relation to the fundamental aspects of life. requests. What eclecticism and cultural leveling have in common is the separation of culture from human nature. Thus cultures are no longer able to define themselves within a nature that transcends them and man ends up being reduced to mere cultural statistics. When this happens, humanity runs new risks of slavery and manipulation. As the quote suggests, self-knowledge is what will ensure that one does not arbitrarily get sucked into the pattern of development that could lead to loss of identity. The awareness of who and what one is protects the person from a new form of slavery and colonization that could shackle the spirit. Education in freedom and for freedom will make the person capable of being the architect of his destiny and master of his destiny.
