Cultural competence has evolved into more than a set of discrete skills; it also requires continuous self-evaluation by the professional (SAMHSA, 2014). Differences will always exist in the view of human nature, but at the core of humanity there is a similarity that creates a core of cohesion that must be the foundation on which therapeutic treatment is built. As cultural beliefs continue to evolve over time, understanding these changes seen in others and within the therapist's own belief systems must be evaluated, processed, and understood. Through this process, there will be no reason why one human being cannot help another human being live a better life through a compassionate healing process based on sensitivity and understanding of individual beliefs. Humanity will continue to change and evolve, the hope for successful therapy lies in encouraging change that supports a multicultural and diverse world
