People begged, borrowed and asked for money to stay afloat. People were starving and sick due to the lack of a clean place to live, food to eat, and water to drink. The Great Depression also affected my family. My grandfather lost his ranch, Emory Gap Ranch, to the Great Depression. No work and the sale of his cattle on his ranch he was forced to foreclose on. My grandfather had to try to sell everything he had to support himself, my grandmother and 9 children. My ancestors, as well as many other minorities, fell victim to hardship in these times. Employers cut employees' wages so they could hire other job seekers to earn money
