Topic > Curiosity in Mathematics - 889

Peter Higgins, in his article entitled “Mathematics for the Curious” explains “to understand numbers in a useful way, a student must do a lot of arithmetic calculations. The important thing is not the answers, but the development of the skills necessary to obtain them. Doing arithmetic instills a basic familiarity with numbers and confidence in handling them” (p. 27). Awakening curiosity will not only help a person move beyond the basics of mathematics and help them achieve higher levels of completion, but it will help them retain valuable information that will take them into the future of solving mathematical numbers.
