Topic > Taking a look at Ramesses II - 2158

To take a look at the life of Ramesses II you should understand a small part of who came before him and what they did to have dominion over Egypt at that time. Horemheb who was pharaoh while Ramesses I accompanied him to the throne was a great soldier and was also an excellent administrator. He tried his best to get rid of all the corruption that had been raging in Egypt for many years. He had destroyed and collapsed a large part of the country in respect for trade, before dying he regained esteem and respect throughout the rest of the Western world in that period. As Horemheb attempted to restore order in his country he had to elect some sort of council. While electing this council and group of collaborators, he noticed a young soldier who very quickly rose to the rank of troop commander(). This young soldier he noticed was Pa-Ramessu who would later become Ramesses I. Pharaoh noticed how this soldier rose through the ranks and later appointed him Royal Evoy to foreign lands, which gave him the responsibility of transmitting diplomatic communications to other countries . After the pharaoh had done that job well, he was then presented with the title of general and was so good at it that Horemheb told him to take command of the fortress of Tjaru. This is the place through which all military expeditions passing through the east should have passed. Pa-Ramessu had earned the pharaoh's respect so much by this time that he would eventually become the pharaohs' right-hand man. This would later lead to him becoming Ramesses I and becoming pharaoh of all Egypt, but before then he was Pa-Ramessu, the crowned prince of the entire country. When he became like that, it actually ensured that he would be...... middle of paper......t in that ever since. The great tomb of Ramses is located in the Valley of the Kings, perhaps one of the most prolific tombs in that period in the Valley. However, his grave is now empty because a long time ago they took his mother away from there. After many years of terrible weather and people coming to ancient Egypt and robbing these ancient and great tombs, most of his tomb was destroyed. There are many efforts today to try to preserve and bring the tomb back to life as it once was in the time of Ramesses to present it for the whole world to admire the grandeur of its majesty. Although he was buried long ago, Ramses, the great mummy, is said to have been one of the best preserved bodies and one of the best to stand the test of time among all the mummies that appeared during ancient Egypt. So even after the death of this pharaoh he can still be called Ramesses the Great.
