Topic > Life in Thailand: What my grandparents told me

The free and carefree life in Thailand sounds beautiful, right? My grandparents told me about Thailand for the first time. They told of its inexpensive life, beautiful sites and diverse culture. They didn't talk about it much at first, but I knew they could tell me stories for days based on their experiences in Thailand. This piqued my interest very quickly. Thailand was born when my grandparents told me about traveling to Thailand with them one day. Knowing almost nothing about Thailand, I was determined to discover as much as I could before I was ready to travel there. I began my research by conducting interviews and reading everything I could find about Thailand. I interviewed my grandparents first. I already knew that they spent several months a year in Thailand and that they visited many different parts of the country. I wanted to find out as much as possible from them first. They told me so many different stories, but I still wanted to know more. I interviewed a couple from Lake Havasu, Arizona, who my grandparents had mentioned traveling to Thailand several times. After speaking with Brian and Kristi Scott, I was able to glean more information from their experiences in Thailand, as well as learn about the people, culture, and some insights into the country's lifestyle. During the interview with my grandparents, they both told me that they had seen many temples and many beautiful places of worship. Furthermore, they noticed that many people were very kind, relaxed and were very open to discussing their religion. Once they heard about the religion, they spent time studying Buddhism and meditation. Their knowledge made me want to learn more about this topic too. Even after my initial information, knowing what I know now, I feel much more inclined to travel to Thailand one day. I've started thinking about going to Thailand myself, but I still have a lot of research to do before I go. However, I learned a lot from this project and now have a lot of tips on traveling in Thailand. Although I found that not all things in Thailand are as good as people say, like slums and some illegal things, just sex trade and so on, I feel it has more positives than negatives. Thailand is said to be one of the most beautiful places to travel, whether it's just to see, study the religion and study the culture or just explore. I can't wait to travel there one day or maybe even live in Thailand. With the knowledge I have now, I feel much more comfortable with the idea of traveling to Thailand one day.
