I clearly understood his idea of comparing fairy tales as stress relievers when he quoted and mentioned other authors' comments. Tatar concluded his thoughts perfectly by stating, “In that world of imagination, we not only escape the squalid realities of everyday life, but we also indulge in the cathartic pleasures of defeating those giants, stepmothers, ogres, monsters, and trolls known as adults” (229 ). I recognized a new shift in the article when Tatar stated, “forgetting their power not only to construct the world of childhood imagination but also to construct the adult world of reality” (229). It summarizes the role of fairy tales in children's lives, bringing attention to the lives of adults too. This clearly signals to me that we are about to enter the adult phase.
