The Italian Renaissance included some of the greatest artists we have ever seen, from Leonardo Da Vinci to Michelangelo and Raphael. The Renaissance took place between the late 13th and 16th centuries and is known as the "renaissance". The idea that the arts are reborn after being dormant for a thousand years is an amazing thing to understand. This time he brought back the liberal arts, which were on the verge of extinction. (Murray 2) What is also interesting about the art of this period was that most of the art had Christian roots, for example, Botticelli's The Allegory of Spring (Faure 1) is said to have had an interpretation Christian. (Murray) “Every Italian artist willingly took the title of architect, sculptor and painter” (Faure 2). In the early 15th century, Italian painters had asked Flemish painters for their secret techniques because the Italians felt that the language of painting had always been intended for them. (Faure 4) Sculptors claimed their inspiration from ancient works. Finally, the Renaissance introduced the idea of individualism, which helped Italians distance themselves from everything that was happening in that period. Art during the Renaissance included painting, sculpture, and architecture, all of which were important parts in expressing the idea of individualism and making art what it is today. Frescoing was one of the most popular works created by artists in this period because it was quite cheap and many buildings, such as churches, had no windows and were simply plain concrete walls. The frescoes helped soften the walls by telling stories through the frescoes. “Fresco was born from a close collaboration between the artist and the bricklayer” (Faure 9). To paint a fresco, the artist... at the center of the paper... the great talent of artists such as Leonardo da Vinci, Michelangelo, Raphael and many others. We don't see the kind of art that was made during the Renaissance in today's world. Art has given us the opportunity to almost go back in time, to see people's emotions and feelings and how events happen in the world simply by looking at an artist's masterpiece.
