Topic > Time wandering around the classroom and interacting…

Belinda spent time wandering around the classroom and interacting with students individually and in small groups to identify their current knowledge and learning differences. With the Year 12 class, he systematically observed and monitored students during lessons (informal assessment) and recognized an area that most of the class was struggling with. He then created lessons to address this problem. These lessons worked very well. Students engaged with them and, as a result, applied this to their own assessments. Standard 2Belinda's lessons were extremely well prepared and researched. The lessons were designed with clear learning intentions. His use of ICT was outstanding and his ability to find a clip or game to support the content of the lesson amazed me. It was never done to fill time, but rather intentionally to enrich the lesson. Belinda demonstrated good literacy, both orally and in written form. Standard 3Belinda has always sent me her lesson plans with time for feedback if needed. It was well organised, planned and prepared. This made it very easy to work with her. The learning objectives/intentions were challenging, insightful and achievable. Belinda gave the students clear instructions on what to do once they entered the room. He always reminded students what they had done previously (recapitulation), what they would do in the current lesson, and finally prepared them for the next lesson. Provided time markers to keep students moving and aware of time left. Belinda has a very clear, relaxed and natural voice. He questioned and engaged students in meaningful discussions. Belinda stuck to the class routine and maintained a strict structure in each period. He used a range of activities and resources which complemented his learning in... middle of paper... in 'Standard 6.' He also participated and sang in front of the school during WOW. He took the opportunity to include our school values in his teaching as soon as the opportunity arose. I offered Belinda the opportunity to take over my course for grades and she gladly accepted. He prepared relevant and helpful worship to share with the class and I believe they benefited immensely from sharing it. These demonstrated that Belinda understands the mission and ethos of Longburn Adventist College. Overall, I really enjoyed having Belinda in my class. She contributed so much on a daily basis and was so easy to work with. I have learned a lot to use in my teaching and have enjoyed watching her grow and develop. I have no reservations in rating Belinda with a High Distinction because she has shown exceptional ability in both her teaching organization and practice.
