Why Donald Trump will win the 2016 election The 2016 election cycle was one for the history books. For the Democrats we have Hillary Clinton, the first female Democratic candidate and proclaimed liar and murderer. The right blamed her for the deaths of those involved in Benghazi, and continued to criticize her for her private email server and the deletion of thirty thousand emails. On the right we have business mogul Donald Trump. He's a self-proclaimed womanizer and is ready to build a wall and make Mexico pay for it. In the eyes of many Americans, this is an election in which we will elect the “lesser of two evils.” As the days until the election continue to dwindle, we're starting to really consider the dark question that's been hanging over our heads for months: Who will win the election? Matt Taibbi, author of The Great Derangement, and JD Vance, author of Hillbilly Elegy, would claim that Donald Trump will be the next president of the United States. In Taibbi's book, he finds that our nation is becoming unbalanced; we have many polarized opposing groups showing how our nation is deteriorating. On the left are the 9/11 Truthers, a group dedicated to uncovering the truth behind the terrorist attacks. On the right, we have a religious movement so entrenched in its beliefs that it never budges. Taibbi argues that these groups have obtained information from different sources, causing our nation to have incredibly different perceptions of the reality in which we live. JD Vance takes us along his life's journey, starting with his rural lower class roots. It shows a world full of abuse, neglect and frustration while painting a picture of what it's like to live in a white, poor, rural community. Vance suggests... middle of paper... panic, and all the other minorities. He doesn't lie, at least not like Hillary. Is our great imbalance our inability to hold those who speak falsely accountable for their actions? How did we get to a point in society where we say one mistake is worse than another? Taibbi would say that we have been shaped by the opinions of others who think like us, causing us to drift further away from the truth. Vance would say many are tired of not having their voices heard. They want someone who will stand up and fight for what's right: heterosexual marriage, guns, men in positions of power, and build that wall. Whatever the reasoning, it is safe to say that the only power strong enough to stop the Trump presidency is Donald Trump himself. His ability to appeal to those who have felt powerless and unheard has created a movement so strong that there is no force that can stop it.
