Informative speechAtheismSpecific purpose: to inform my audience about atheism, why it is important and the fundamental elements to be part of it. I will discuss what atheism is, how it came about, and the number of people who practice this religion. Central Idea: What is atheism? Who? When? Where? And why!? Organizational Model: Current Affairs Introduction Forrester Church once said, “Religion is the human response to being alive and having to die.” In Christianity, when one dies, a glorious paradise awaits him, where he will be adorned with beautiful wings, a shining halo and all his loved ones will be with him. Atheism, on the other hand, leaves the question of the afterlife open, which can be scary not knowing what happens after death. But atheists' desire for immorality diminishes when they recognize that survival and daily life are more important. Last semester I decided to attend a church service at Northern's Newman Center with my mother who plays the piano there. This was the first time I had attended any type of religious service in more than five years. It was a big step for me to break out of my box because when I was a freshman in high school, I became an atheist. For years my family and I were members of a local Methodist church. I was baptized and confirmed in this church. However, when I started high school, getting up early on Sundays wasn't something I wanted. I stopped going to church, my faith waned, and I decided to become an atheist. In this speech I will delve into why it is so important to recognize this religion and the fundamental elements to be part of it. First, I will discuss what atheism is, how it originated, and the number… in the middle of the paper… and in the world, you need to have some shared views on mortality. Otherwise it is difficult to imagine that our existence would last long." Works Cited “Quotes on Religion.” Wisdom Quotes. 1995 – 2009Jone JohnsonLewis. Network.
