As teenagers, brain development is still an ongoing process, making it harder for a person's mindset to remain stable. Due to the unstable conditions that a teenager might go through, depression can develop within the body. A sedentary lifestyle can be a cause of depression, since a person is not in a state of movement during the day. “Bodies have functions, and if one of these functions stops moving, it slows down the processes of the others” (Haines 1). If a person doesn't exercise and keep up with their physical health, they may not make progress with their mindset and mood stabilization. A person who exercises regularly tends to have a sharper mind, which can more easily help a person continue to think, learn and will aid in the process of sharper judgment skills. Exercise has the potential to reduce a person's risk of depression and will help keep their sleep patterns normal. “Doing aerobic exercise or a mix or aerobic exercise and muscle-strengthening activities 3-5 times a week can give you these mental health benefits” (CDC 7). There is also evidence that a person who only exercises occasionally or engages in lower-level physical activities may be beneficial to the mind. As teenagers grow up, their mindset changes. If a person had some control over how their body and mindset change, it would lead to a healthier life.
