First of all, the way I choose films has changed. Now I'm a little more open to watching an old black and white movie. They are also more likely to choose a foreign film with subtitles. However, I still have a hard time choosing films that aren't critically acclaimed. I'm more willing to watch a black and white film, but only if directed by Alfred Hitchcock or Orson Welles. The same goes for foreign films. I've also changed the way I analyze films. Now, when I watch a film critically, I find that I judge a film based on more than story and acting. I'll look at the look and what went into getting that shot or how difficult it must have been to edit some scenes. I think this has made me a little more forgiving when reviewing a film. In the past I would have thought a film wasn't good if I didn't like the story, but now I can look beyond that and judge it by the cinematography and production design. I think I've started to understand that cinema is an art form and deserves to be treated with more care than most people treat it. Now I understand how difficult it is to make and be part of a film. I'm still working on correcting my shortcomings as a viewer and I believe that will happen as soon as I take the time to see more
