First of all, it strengthens the hope of an international bond of cooperation. Secondly, there are a number of positive outcomes from continued use of the station. The technology for the station aids water purification efforts around the world, ultrasound studies, improvements in eye surgery and hardware, checking bone density, using robotics to operate on inoperable tumors, and many other health-related benefits. Furthermore, there are studies that can only be conducted in space, such as the cultivation of high-quality protein crystals. This study enables future improved pharmaceutical products and an understanding of protein structure; the ideal environment for these studies is space and could not be reproduced cheaper on earth. Additionally, the space station can monitor water quality and natural disasters from space. All in all, there are many benefits to the station and it goes beyond superficial politics
