The Book of Genesis was the main book that made up part of the Old Testament. It is the book of beginnings. For some it is an account of history. For others, it is seen as the main metaphorical message regarding the creation of the world and primitive man, portraying the religious morality that people try to follow regardless of the time period in which the Book of Genesis is studied. Through faith and reason regarding nature, humans, and the divine, the Book of Genesis poses a concluding theme. This is that without God, man and nature are completely inadequate and incomplete. Without God there would be nothing, but with God you can get the greatest pleasures in life. In the first part of the Book of Genesis, God created the world. He did this in a total of seven days, taking six days to complete the task and a final day to rest. This final seventh day is now considered the holy day or Sabbath. It deals with the relationship between God and the natural elements created by him that are essential for the sustainability of human life. If someone had extreme literal faith in the Bible, they would believe that God created the world word for word like the one described in the Book of Genesis. This is that on the first day he created day and night, on the second day he created the heavens from the earth, on the third he separated the lush vegetation from the oceans and bodies of water. On the fourth day he created the sun, moon and stars, on the fifth day the sea animals and on the sixth day men and animals. Using reason, many people can conclude that the universe and everything in it was not created exactly as stated in the Book of Genesis. Those with a more interpretive faith take the creation of nature metaphorically. The universe shakes the sense of... middle of paper... life decisions. The divine gives hope to others in dark hours, like the hope given to Jacob who went from having a broken life to that of a prince. A divine relationship helps you to have a full and encouraging understanding of the world you live in and, apart from reason and science, to have faith in a secure afterlife with God. Overall, the Book of Genesis shows that having eternal faith and sometimes by suspending reason, relationships with God are built and human beings can achieve a wholeness they would not otherwise have known. The Book of Genesis introduces a concept that has been the number one tradition in human life since the days of Adam and Eve. This is the concept of family, of which God is the main member. Only in this will faith bring you health, happiness and fulfillment, despite being put to the test from time to time involuntarily like those we read about in the Book of Genesis.
