When he began his speech, King was monotone in voice and stature. There was no emotion shown in the initial stages of his speech. He maintained little to no eye contact with people during the initial parts of the speech and appeared tired, weak but not defeated. The more he delved into it the more he started to let out emotions, he spoke with passion when it came to certain parts. This mostly happened in the sections about how slavery was affecting their lives. He couldn't say certain words, suffocated by the raw emotion that hit him emotionally or when he saw the looks on people's faces.
