The word story has many meanings attached to it, and the bottom line is that the definition of story depends on who you're asking. But what is it? Dictionary.com states that “history is a narrative of events; a story." Everyone has stories. It goes without saying then that each of us has a story. But what about looking at the world in a broader aspect? I think we could look at human beings, as a whole, and see that everyone we have history; social history. Furthermore, what students primarily study in textbooks and classrooms; political history. Therefore, history, in my terms, can be divided into three very different branches: personal, social and politician A friend of mine unfortunately separated from a woman to whom he dedicated a long period of time. Informing me, as I often do, I ask for details about their breakup. I was given an answer: "Dude, she is history". And my friend is exactly right. This woman is now part of his personal history. Had this girl never entered his life, he would not have been able to claim her as part of his history "a story" and my friend can tell stories about him and his girlfriend. (in fact that's all he talks about lately) The Vietnam War was a very important part of the story. The boss at my current workplace actually served a long time in the war. It was a grunt. I asked him, trying to hear maybe a story or two about what it was like, but he doesn't like to talk about it. this part of her story excludes her. Many veterans are like that. I think the reason is that the war in his story is a very different war than the one we could ever read in books or hear about from professors. War is different for everyone; as is the story itself.
