Topic > Comparing and contrasting federalism and federalists

Federalism and anti-federalism both have a large number of people on their side. However, the federalists' idea that a strong central government is the key is completely absurd. Although some federalists have quite persuasive ideas, such ideas would not work when applied. One of the ideas that federalists have is that of the government itself governing. As one of the most eminent federalists said, “…first allow the government to control the governed; and then force it to control itself.”1 The government, if it controls itself, will certainly become corrupt. If there is only one government, there is a risk that democracy will turn into a tyranny, as Brutus estimated. of citizens. Another belief of federalists is that the number of representatives they want to hire is sufficient. The population of the country is increasing considerably and will continue to acquire more and more people. States will clearly have little power, which means that the interests of the population will have less meaning. A single government can only get so far when it comes to the different opinions of ordinary people.4 Despite what James Madison says about different opinions canceling each other out,5 two opposing sides of an opinion do not cancel each other out. While this may apply to science and mathematics, human emotions don't work that way. One of the Federalists If everyone agrees that government should be entirely central, then they should agree on what justice means to them. One says, “Justice is the end of government.”11 Justice means fairness, and if fairness is the end of government, then it is the end of America. We fought for justice in the American Revolution, and if we hadn't, these same Federalists would be complaining about how unjust the system is. There must be fairness in government; otherwise the government will be overthrown. History has shown this pattern again and again. If justice were truly the goal of government, then we wouldn't have to elect presidents at all and keep the old way with monarchs, or promote a new way and have a tyrant as a leader. The other idea federalists have about justice is the balancing act between the central government.12 If justice is supposed to be the goal of government, it cannot balance the people in control. Justice should help balance government, but balancing is an obligation between those who govern and those who are governed. If the governed are treated unfairly because the central government is too strong, then justice must do so
