James once said, “It is art that creates life, creates interest, creates importance… and I know of no substitute for the power and beauty of its process.” What James is trying to say is that no matter what, art is art. It doesn't matter if the writer doesn't think highly of it. James says the art is beautiful. Whatever you do to your novel, book, or poem, it's beautiful. All around it says that art is life and that without art nothing would exist. The world would be boring. It's important to get out there and do what you love, whatever that is. If someone loves what they do, they should do it with one hundred percent dedication (“Henry”). James writes about the conflict of independence and the harsh social characteristics of the Americans in Rome, the culture and how he defines the atmosphere of the story.
