My interest in law enforcement grew in me at a young age, probably around 8 years old. I used to watch the show Cops all the time and this really interested me. It wasn't until I was 10 that I told myself I wanted to be a police officer or something in that field. During my middle school years one of the officers who worked there told me about a program called Police Explorers, once he explained the program to me I knew that was what I wanted to do: work with the police. A week after I turned fourteen I decided to join the Costa Mesa Police scout program, to be accepted into the program I had to attend four consecutive meetings and at the fourth meeting I was presented with an application the following week I was interviewed by four police officers; it was scary. This program taught me many lessons such as responsibility, respect, integrity and many other qualities that one must have to be considered fit for police work. Police work is not an easy task: being an officer requires having the courage to protect and serve your community, it takes integrity and respect for others. As an officer you must know radio codes, traffic violations, state laws, how to drive, trust your team, how to interact with civilians, etc. Officers must have and be able to express patience with civilians and must provide a safe environment for civilians. To become a police officer, education comes first, the educational requirements are having a high school diploma or GED and a bachelor's degree in criminal justice. Also to attend the police academy where they train to become mentally strong and physically strong. They are tested on how much pressure they can withstand and how durable they are. There is also a physical test they do for......middle of paper......and my goals in life; being able to give something back to the community that watched me grow and make the people I love proud of me. Although I aspire to become an officer, I would really like to go far beyond being a traffic officer or patrol officer. I really hope to achieve my goal of working as a federal police officer. I grew up watching a lot of TV shows like COPS, Criminal Minds, Cold Case, Without a Trace, and working closer to criminal profiling and behavioral analysis always caught my attention. Not only did I grow up watching these television shows, but I also had a really difficult childhood experience that led me to want to make a difference and I know that I may not be able to make a big difference, but as long as I'm able to, I'll help some citizens who will do for me. My dream has always been to do something big and that's exactly what I'm going to do.
