According to federal law, anyone has the right to own a gun and should be at least 21 years old, which is clearly a brilliant system that has caused many crimes (Hodge, Vernick and Webster, 2007). Therefore, the government should control firearms, which will decrease the crime rate and this will lead to reducing the number of murders. After the Sandy Hook massacre, 99 school shootings occurred, a number that can be called enormous (Khan, 2015). If the government was serious about gun control, this wouldn't happen and people would be afraid of having problems using guns. Additionally, gunshot victims are on the rise in the United States. According to the Gun Violence Archive, “in 2014 there were 12,569 gun deaths in the United States” (Khan, 2015, para. 8). Canada has a strict firearms system and the government has the right to ban some people from owning guns. In fact, in 2004, the crime rate in Canada was 1.95 per capita, compared to a US rate of 5.9, these numbers show that gun control leads to decreasing crime rates (Hodge, Vernick and Webster,
