As stronger nations exert their control over weaker ones, the United States seeks to demonstrate its authority, power, and control over weaker nations by considering them unable to manage their own problems, thus imposing their ideology on them. And if any of these weaker nations attempted to resist, then the wrath of the United States would be poured upon them. In Overthrowing author Stephen Kinzer recounts how Americans used various means to overthrow foreign governments. He explains that the campaign and ideology of anti-communism made Americans believe that it was their historic right and obligation to lead the forces of good against those of iniquity. They also overthrew foreign governments when economic interests coincided with ideological ones (kinzer.215). These factors were the reasons behind American intervention in Iran, Guatemala, South Vietnam and Chile to control and protect multinational companies, as well as the campaign against communism with little or no knowledge of these countries. Kinzer tells us that the Iranians celebrated their nationalism by taking control of their oil, but their success was a shock to British multinationals in Iran. They didn't like the idea of nationalizing Iran, so they plan a coup to overthrow Prime Minister Mossadegh. But this plan failed and the British were disarmed and sent back to their country by closing their embassy in Iran. The British tried to present their case to the United States so that the United States would intervene. Then they presented the thesis that Mossaghe is not only nationalizing Iranian oil, but is also driving Iran towards communism. This case sparked American action and they feared that if they assassinated Mossaghe, his seat would be open and communist... middle of paper... and the attempt to control and acquire fairway land while Iran, Guatemala , South Vietnam and Chile were the use of the CIA and ideology to stop communism. In conclusion, as every country will want to be independent and fight for their freedom, these countries, Iran, Guatemala, South Vietnam and Chile, tried to be independent by nationalizing their countries. natural resource as the Vietnamese fought for their independence. Kinzer's book emphasizes that we cannot take over another country's future or try to impose our ideology on it. Assuming we know a country that will just be new is the biggest mistake we've ever made. Because of our arrogance, pride and greed, our mistakes have sent many innocent soldiers/civilians to their early graves.
