Who would have thought that a country boy would become one of the greatest minds in history? This boy was born during the Italian Renaissance, a period of great rebirth and renewed interest in the cultural arts (artist Leonardo page 3). His name was Leonardo da Vinci and he was born on 15 April 1452 (artist Leonardo page 9). Many would define Leonardo as “a jack of all trades; master of none”, yet perhaps he was master of all (Leonardo artist page 4). He had achieved many talents and countless achievements (page 4). A genius at heart, Leonardo had many jobs and careers: "a painter, a sculptor, an inventor, an engineer, a writer, an architect and... a scientist." (Artist Leonardo page 5) An excellent observer, he often studied what surrounded him (The world of Leonardo ¶ 3). He often dealt only with what he could see (¶3). Leonardo was not particularly interested in abstract or “outside the box” ideas (¶3). Having all these virtues and almost no vices, Leonardo was truly the most intellectual figure of his time. Leonardo was born to an unmarried father and mother (artist Leonardo page 11). His mother soon married another man and gave birth to four more children (page 11). He felt quite jealous of his half-siblings and of sharing his mother's attention (page 11). When Leonardo reached the age of five, he decided to live with his grandfather (artist Leonardo page 18). At the age of ten, his father had Leonardo moved to Florence (page 18). There he will become an apprentice to a well-known artist, Andrea Del Verrocchio (page 18). After completing his apprenticeship, Leonardo remained with Verrocchio (The World of Leonardo ¶2). Leonardo often attended Verrocchio's paintings, drawing one of the inc...... in the center of the paper ...... new ¶ 7). Developing theories and schemes that only a genius could have done, Leonardo is truly the Renaissance figure closest to achieving all his impossible goals (Leonardo summary ¶14). Thanks to his achievements, he will be revered for centuries to come and Leonardo da Vinci's great knowledge and skill will always be known throughout the world. Works Cited: Grack, Rachel A..
