Contribution of the Field of Mathematics Archimedes made a huge contribution to mathematics because he loved mathematics so much. He used his whole life to discover the field of mathematics. He contributed to integral calculus, pie value calculation, and fluid displacement. One of his contributions to the fields of mathematics is the invention of integral calculus and recorded in a text called Method. The Method text contains many of his researches such as the determination of the area of the parabola, the area and volume of a sphere and an ellipsoid. Furthermore, the text contains many geometric formulas, proofs and explanations. Using integral calculus, he calculated the section of the areas surrounded by a geometric figure and the slope of the tangent lines of a curve or surface. His contribution to integral calculus helped Sir Isaac Newton continue the development of calculus. From another work of Archimedes, Measurement of the Circle, he recorded the method of approximating the value of pi (π). Pi means the ratio of the circumference of a circle to its diameter. Based on Euclid's theorem, Arc...
