When it comes to the content students are learning and when they are learning it, I give them little flexibility. I have a very hard time giving up control of my schedule. I find that I have a preconceived idea of what the classroom should look and sound like. The thought of giving up any control over my planning and implementation of content turns into the fear of losing control of the order of the classroom. In my latest course, Classroom Management, I tried an inquiry lesson with my students, which was successful. However, even with this success, I get nervous about giving students more control. The last instructional change I have is that I need to give my students more peer teaching opportunities. My classes do a lot of collaborative work, but I don't think I give them a reason to explain “why” or “how” something works. When I allow peer teaching, I select the same two students each time. I would really like to work on making sure we use the assessment component to choose a variety of students who understand the concept. Objectives towards differentiated encounters
