It was really embarrassing that I couldn't understand what he was saying, so the next day I brought a huge dictionary with me to school. As my teacher spoke to the class, I tried to understand what it meant. At night my grandfather made me watch Barney and Friends with English subtitles and a dictionary next to me. I also tried to read as many books as I could. Not that I can understand it, but it really helped me with my English. Those strange buzzes coming from my teacher became words after a few years. I laughed at my teacher's joke with my classmates and, on top of that, I made friends. It still took me days to finish my English homework; however, my hard work and time was rewarded with a B on my English exam. Simple words cannot describe how I felt when I saw myself improving day by day. I told myself that I would work harder and harder so I could get an A just like everyone else. It's 2016 and here I am. The speechless girl who blushed like a tomato had now just graduated from East Kentwood High School and was certainly attending GRCC. It's my first year of college and so far it's going really great. I have the best friends ever and my English has improved a lot. I'm also taking Spanish classes to challenge myself more and I'm actually doing pretty well in most of my classes.
