Different Forms of Narrative Writing As time has shown, there are many different forms of narrative writing. The most common is fantasy, which involves forged characters and forged settings that wouldn't actually exist in real life. There is historical fiction, which is about real characters, but the story has been taken beyond the truth and now some false details have been added to entertain the reader. Another and probably my favorite is Myths. Myths are fictional stories from very ancient times that tell stories trying to explain why things are the way they are. Like the stories of Zeus and Hercules, these stories can be about real-life events. Steps for Fiction Writing First, you need to have a topic just like any other piece of writing.
