The purpose of a narrative passage is to tell a specific story, while the purpose of a persuasive passage is to argue about a particular topic. (Prudchenko) These are just a few different forms of writing and as you can see fiction is very different from the others. Different Forms of Narrative Writing As time has shown, there are many different forms of narrative writing. The most common is fantasy, which involves forged characters and forged settings that wouldn't actually exist in real life. There is historical fiction, which is about real characters, but the story has been taken beyond the truth and now some false details have been added to entertain the reader. Another and probably my favorite is Myths. Myths are fictional stories from very ancient times that tell stories trying to explain why things are the way they are. Like the stories of Zeus and Hercules, these stories can be about real-life events. Steps for Fiction Writing First, you need to have a topic just like any other piece of writing. It's helpful to have lots of ideas, write them down and come back to them later. You also have to remember that narrative writing is made up of settings and characters to create a good outcome
