A recent study examined scientific articles from the last 50 years on the nutrient content of organic and conventional foods. The researchers concluded that organically and conventionally produced foods do not have significant differences in nutrient content." • Organic foods do not contain antibiotics: Studies show that the use of antibiotics in conventionally raised farm animals significantly improves the evolution of antibiotic-resistant bacteria. Princeton University notes: “Humans can become infected with resistant bacteria through undercooked meat or contaminated soil and groundwater. Antibiotic resistance threatens our ability to fight these infections." The university also states, “The only way for consumers to avoid exposure of poultry to these drugs is through certified organic antibiotic-free or USDA-certified meat.” Ellen Huckabay, a regional agent for the Alabama Cooperative Extension Service says, “Research shows there is little to no benefit to eating organic produce instead of conventionally grown produce. Organic food may contain fewer pesticide residues, but not it is always 100% pesticide free. I prefer to buy locally grown produce at farmers markets. I prefer to know who grew my food rather than buying something organic from someone else
