Many protesters will reference the Bible when they picket abortion clinics and harass women for their choice. “And if it be from one month old to five years old, your estimate shall be five shekels of silver for the male, and for the female your estimate shall be three shekels of silver” (Leviticus 27:6) . In this quote the Bible says that no fetus less than one month old is considered valuable. Does this mean that the baby is worthless if it is less than a month old? Even though Leviticus comes from the Old Testament, many of these protesters use other quotes, from the same testament, and say that life begins immediately after the sperm hits the egg. “What is the use, my brothers, if someone says he has faith but does not have works? Can that faith save him? If a brother or sister is poorly clothed and without daily food, and one of you says to them: "Go in peace, warm yourself and be satisfied", without giving them the necessary things for the body, what is the use? So also faith alone, if it has no works, is dead” (James 2:14-17). If protesters have time to picket these abortion clinics, why don't they allocate it to a more useful action such as helping already-born children, who may not have a parent, be born into an unsuitable home, or live in poverty? People need to stop trying to find fault and start enlightening themselves not only with faith, but also with the physical
