As a teacher, my goal is not to bring the world to children, but to show them how they can achieve what the world has to offer. To show them that they can do many wonderful things on their own, but it's also okay to ask for help when they need it. My teaching style is that of an art teacher; colourful, practical, open to new ideas and changes. My philosophy is that a good teacher is one who not only can teach, but also understands the needs of his students. A great teacher is one who teaches, understands and listens. Excellent teachers know how to teach, understand and are willing to admit when they are wrong, and are also willing to learn from their students. You only get one chance to make a lasting impression on a child, show them that you not only care, but also show value and interest in what they think makes you an excellent teacher. As teachers we must remember that students have their own lives and activities when they leave school. It's not just that they spend more than half of their day with us, but that as the hours pass, students learn how to deal with new things and situations. No matter how strong our routine is during the day, no two days are the same; this means that one day you may have a student who is having a good day but a bad day for the rest of the week. Our job as teachers is to help students understand how to act and do certain things in society. We are their second line of defense when it comes to certain things and we may be in the most stable environment for some time. Student, parent, and teacher are short phrases to describe my beliefs about teaching and learning. A teacher can teach a student many things in life, however if parents are not actively involved at some point during school... halfway through... school is now very different than it was for me, and it was for my children. There's a lot more technology that kids get before they're even old enough to go to school. I see my nephew every day doing some new worksheet or going to the computer and looking for information on the web. I remember when his father was a boy and I had to take him to the library so he could do some homework. Now it can be done on anything, even cell phones. Can you use technology during class and if so, which ones? Or even tests and quizzes during lessons? 9 years old: Yes, we can use the computer to do classwork and science projects at school. We also have a computer lockdown period, where we go to the computer lab and learn how to use different programs on the computer. For the test we go to this program known as Study Island and work on test prep for the standardized test.
