I believe this is exactly what the Baltimore commissioner should do. He should go and talk to everyone in the community and let them know that he is available and willing to work with them to get the city under control. The developed relationship should be followed up by police officers working together with the community to solve current and future problems. By involving the community in solving community problems, it will be easier for the Baltimore Police Department to earn their trust. Based on research findings, race influences satisfaction with the police indirectly and in combination with other factors such as neighborhood crime rate (Horowitz, 9). We can see it in Baltimore too. The crime rate in communities that distrust the police is higher than in other communities. Based on this, we can say that another effective way to gain the trust of communities is to lower the level of crime
