Writing is an important process that allows you to communicate professionally and academically effectively. Therefore, when writing it can be applied to any situation. It is best described when you interact between people, places and things. However, when taking ENG 3010, the primary focus of the course was to analyze your academic specialization or future profession. More importantly, you had to learn how to identify different genres and how to develop your writing skills for particular contexts, purposes and audiences. When I wrote in these various scenarios, I found it a little challenging. I only faced these challenges because I was unfamiliar with writing situations. It was different from any other English course because the approaches suggested writing for an audience only in your major. But by focusing on my writing skills within my discourse community, I was able to take my writing to a different level. The challenges I faced became knowledge. He helped me ensure that all my documents were balanced and well organized. As a result, I have developed strong skills in identifying modes of writing and communication in my discourse community, research skills such as: writing a research proposal, literature review, annotated bibliography and proposing a working thesis. With these skills that I have developed from this course, I will be able to achieve the goals that will be needed in my future classes and workplace after college. The first learning outcome in this course is to produce writings that demonstrate my ability to identify, describe, and analyze various writing occasions, genres, conventions, and audiences in my discipline or profession from a rhetorical… middle of paper… wandering into the next project. I think some of the ways I improved were in the organization of my article. I learned the correct way to swipe my card correctly. In Project I, the organization was horrible. I felt like I couldn't find the right way to transition my paragraphs, so I seemed to keep jumping from one topic to another without producing a good transition word to make everything flow. However, towards the end of the semester it was something I worked on and it shows in the rest of my work. Ultimately, ENG 3010 taught me several strategies for writing in my discourse community. It was a little challenging at first because I wasn't familiar with writing situations. However, this writing experience is something I am grateful to have learned. With these strategies I will be able to use them in future lessons and in the workplace.
