Music created a movement. People weren't afraid to be different. The birth of rock 'n' roll has had a major impact on many cultures and societies. When I think of rock 'n' roll music, I think of music as a stepping stone for Americans. I think Rock 'n roll music is a stepping stone for Americans because it reflects the change in America after the war. Everyone was afraid of escaping and being different. Rock and roll music made it cool to be different. During the 1950s no other genre of music was as accepted or despised as rock 'n' roll. The popularity of rock music can also be traced back to the controversies that the music sparked. When rock 'n' roll music hit the white suburbs and became popular among young people, there was trash talk about rock 'n' roll music in the decades that followed. Even though people spoke badly of rock music, the music helped break down racial barriers. Rock music was universal. Music allowed different races to unite on the dance floor. Parents called radio stations to convince disc jockeys to stop playing rock and roll music, but the stunt also affected the economy. Most of the money was made by rock and roll artists.
