Topic > Global Warming in the UK - 735

Committee 1 Delegation: United Kingdom Never before has climate change been such a critical factor in our lives. Global warming due to high emissions of greenhouse gases (GHG) is upsetting the balance of our ecosystem causing numerous and diverse negative impacts. It is imperative to alleviate these problems and we must act now to protect our future. This delegate believes that increasing levels of greenhouse gases can be reduced by continuing to use and develop emerging renewable/alternative energy sources. The UK's main concern is that due to the increase in greenhouse gas emissions, this will have a drastic impact on the environment. the whole nation. One of the biggest problems is that the UK is not fully prepared to deal with extreme natural disasters such as floods, droughts, storms and heatwaves. Due to the huge amount of emissions worldwide, the UK suffered 2,000 deaths due to heatwaves in 2003. These vulnerabilities will cause great devastation in the UK, mainly affecting the elderly and the poor. To protect the citizens of the United Kingdom and also the populations of the world, the United Kingdom calls on all countries to focus on climate change and adaptation plans to be well equipped for the attacks of natural disasters. Recognizing the fact that climate change is happening, the UK has supported the UNFCCC, the Kyoto Protocol and much more. Through the United Nations conferences, the UK has made various efforts to achieve the target of reducing greenhouse gas emissions by at least 40% by 2020 and 80% by 2050. Many legislations and policies have been put in place to achieve these goals, one of which is the implementation of the Climate Change Law of 2008. By working with legislation, cooperation and further development of the use of renewable energy sources present in each country, climate change can and will be overcome . The UK would like to focus on the following topics during the MUNCCC:1) Further research and development of renewable/alternative energy.2) Raise awareness of the criticality of climate change through mass media.3) Create more policies and organizations to support both both developed and developing countries to be able to generate clean energy for self-sustainability.4) Changes to the ratification of limits on carbon emissions allowed in each country to justify discrepancies in emissions.Citations: https:// www.gov.uk, http:// www.clickgreen.org.uk, http://www.guardian.co.ukWorks Citedhttps://www.gov.uk, http://www.clickgreen.org.uk , http://www.guardian.co .UK
