Star Wars Revelations is a film made and created by fans. It's a relatable film if someone is a Star Wars fan, if they're not a fan of the series then they wouldn't be able to relate to it. Star Wars was a successful film that created a huge fan base with their very first film and has continued to attract people's attention. Fans felt a sense of ownership and pride watching Star Wars Revelations, because it created this medium among fans. Henry Jenkins, Sam Ford, and Joshua Green would see Star Wars Revelations as a spreadable source of media, because this film gives fans the sense of community that reaches multiple access points for graspability and citation. Jenkins argues in his book Spreadable Media that spreadability works and has changed the playing field for companies and manufacturers. “The question is 'of what'. Everyone has a sphere in which they feel comfortable exercising free will: maybe it's their job, maybe it's raising their children, maybe it's collecting stamps. Outside that sphere, most people are creators only in carefully limited circumstances; most people can't draw, but anyone can color the inside lines or draw them” (Jenkins, Ford, & Green, 157). Looking into Star Wars Revelations if you are not a Star Wars fan you will not understand the film that was produced and created by fans. The fans who created this film relate to other fans because there is a sense of graspability and quotation; they understand the story behind the story. It's no surprise to Jenkins that Star Wars Revelations was a huge success story. The Star Wars community already has the ability to spread within its network. Social media like Facebook and Twitter have helped make media formats... paper-centric... which is why you should read this book. In conclusion, Jenkins raises many interesting points about spreadable media. and that's why Star Wars Revelation falls into this category. While this movie isn't of interest to everyone, it is of interest to Star Wars fans and since Star Wars already had a large fan base, the medium went viral. Fans appreciated that Star Wars Revelation was comparable to other Star War films. They also admired the fact that he made this ambiguous film on a $20,000 budget. The creators and producers of the fan-based film didn't care about seeking out new fans, which was not their intended audience.
