Everyone had to work together to build the shelters, but only Ralph and Simon ended up building them. They didn't perform as well as they could have, if more kids had attended. Without the help of all the kids we couldn't achieve anything. Jack takes advantage of the boy's laziness and creates an atmosphere of fear, leading the group to a false idea. He also divides society in two when he makes the kids choose between him and Ralph. Most of the boys are afraid of Jack and what he is capable of doing and decide to follow him. Other boys simply believe that Jack was fighting for the right thing and that hunting should come before safety, but several boys decide that Ralph means well. This is a real life situation, just like when you vote for a government, but what the kids did differently was run two governments at the same time. Ralph and Jack's tribe was just like a civilized tribe
