I remember the excitement when I first installed the "Turbo C" compiler and wrote lines of code to display "Hello World" on the screen. I was a beginner at playing at the compiler level then. With a myriad of questions regarding the anatomy of computers and my curiosity at its peak, I was really excited to call myself a "programmer". I come from a family where education always has top priority. Throughout my primary and secondary education, I proudly received numerous awards for academic and extracurricular activities. I attribute my strong academic profile to the undying support of my parents. My interest in computers grew as I did some basic programming tasks. A simple quiz game in C language was the first application I developed. Since then, I have aimed at implementing much more complex applications. I enjoyed every class, lab, and seminar I took during my four-year undergraduate program. They enlightened me with the guts of computers. My interests are reflected well in my grades. I got 1st rank in four years in my undergraduate course in my college with a total of 76.43% and 21st rank in Mumbai University in the final year among around 4000 students from different universities. During the third year of my course, I was awarded a merit-based scholarship by the Narotam Sekhsaria Foundation which waived 40% of my tuition fee. All these achievements have encouraged me to maintain my consistency in academic studies. My predilection for modern computing platforms pushed me to dedicate myself to designing an arcade game for "Android" smartphones as a final year project. I developed this game based on logic and physics concepts where the player's goal was to get the ball to its destination. I wrote the question in jav...... middle of paper......nce from the University of Texas at Austin. After researching the program details on your website, I think I have a clear understanding of your program requirements. I am extremely impressed by the teaching staff and research work of your university. “Byzantine Fault Tolerance and Beyond” by Dr. Michael D. Dahlin is one such project that amazed me. “InkTag: Secure Applications on an Untrusted OS” is another article that fascinated me. If I had the chance, I would like to work on such research projects. I am confident that I can make the most of the high-quality education offered at your university which places much emphasis on research and thus enable me to make my contribution to the work underway at your department. I believe that the multicultural environment of the university will make me not only challenging but also socially and culturally enriching.
