When individuals, especially individuals who are more akin to being allies and not enemies, fight for the sole purpose of gathering prisoners to sell as objects to the real enemy, the Europeans, shows just how society can be easily deceived by corruption (Rodney 79). Europeans, who were supposed to be the outsiders in the African community, ended up in power, as African leaders exploited their own people for their own economic interests, they allowed Europeans to promote the slave trade as money and objects seemed to be more valuable than human lives (Rodney 79).
