Dr. William Worrall Mayo, his two sons Drs. William James Mayo and Charles Horace Mayo and the Sisters of St. Francis founded the Mayo Clinic in 1889 in Rochester, Minnesota. In 1919, the Mayo brothers Drs. William James Mayo and Charles Horace Mayo ended their collaboration with the Sisters of St. Francis. Dr. Graham was the only physician, among the primary physicians who joined the Mayo Brothers, not to leave with the Mayo Brothers in the 1919 split.
