Women played a very important role in this life. They stand beside men to help them develop a lifestyle on earth. They are mothers, workers, builders and teachers. Before millions of years ago, women played different roles than men to make life easier. In different cultures, women were more than housewives. In Native American culture, for example, they had a very effective role alongside men to help them in hunting, wars and housework. They worked hard to create a brave and strong generation to protect the tribe in the future. They hold an important place in their tribes. Native American tribes could not survive without their women. This essay will show the powerful roles of Native American women in their tribes. One of the texts cited: the legend of "Brave Woman Counts Coup" told by Jenny Leading Clout in South Dakota in 1967 about a warrior woman who joined the wars and refused to marry the man she loved. This legend shows the power of the Native American woman and fought to keep her tribe safe. The second text is written by Marge Tindal, one of the first Native American writers, and is the poem "Woman-With-Tongue-That-Wags". The poem is about a wise woman who was loved by her people because she helped them in the difficulties of life. The latest text "Mankiller A Chief and Her People" is a biography about Wilma Mankiller, the first female chief of her tribe, written by her and Michael Wallis. Soft creatures in Native American culture are wise, courageous women and leaders who fight alongside men to continue their legacy.
