What is life? Why do people look different? These are questions I've been eager to know the answers to since I was young. When I look at people's characteristics, I usually think that some traits are hereditary, while others are caused by environmental factors. For human diseases, I would like to know the relative contribution of genetics and environment. Is a disease caused by a pathogenic microorganism, a toxic agent in the environment, or a defective gene? My interest in molecular biology was inspired by these questions and led me to the world of genetics. While I was an elementary school student, my mother was diagnosed with cervical cancer. From that situation I developed an insatiable curiosity about cancer and molecular medicine. I am particularly interested in the structure and function of genes and the genetic analysis of cancer, a large group of diseases that represents a significant health problem in my country, Thailand. I hope to understand and identify the causes of genetic diseases that contribute to people in my country living happily and healthily. Towards such aspirations, I believe that a Master's program in biology, specifically in cancer biology, at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute is destined to significantly improve my academic standing. The chosen program will allow me to fulfill my desire to expand my knowledge, pursue a career in medical science, and provide me with the opportunity to help solve community health problems in Thailand. The most important evidence I cite proving my qualifications as a worthy candidate is my academic background in undergraduate and graduate studies. During the three years of my high school studies I developed my curiosity for biology and achieved excellent results in m......middle paper......te of medical science is going slowly. The death rate of Thais who have not received sufficient medical care is increasing. For these reasons, I want to become a scientist so I can do cancer research. Furthermore, being a university teacher is also my wish career because I hope to provide medical science education to support solving the health problems of the Thai community. I want to raise young scientists to help develop the medical system for my country, because Thailand needs more scientists and professional doctors to assist Thai people. I know that a Master's program in a cancer biology field will help me achieve my goals by providing an excellent education and experiences in an extraordinary country. Likewise, I think earning such a degree will give me the opportunity to help solve community health problems in Thailand..
