It is logical that giving voice to adolescents through listening allows nurses to understand the cognitive, socio-cultural and physical aspects related to youth. Understanding adolescence allows nursing to make prudent healthcare decisions when a complicated situation arises. To understand the importance of understanding the adolescence stage, two competency statements are used, namely the theory of history and Freire's philosophical perspectives. Story theory provides a criterion for collecting stories about adolescent health, and Freire's philosophical vision guides the thinking.
