Status Quo 1776, The American colonies rebelled against their oppressive and imperialist homeland, Great Britain. They defied the traditions of an ancient homeland to become an independent nation that would eventually lead the free world. Critical review of established laws, attitudes and beliefs is what this country was shaped by. The United States exemplifies the idea that it is necessary to question policies practiced when they have become obsolete and ineffective. When governments are no longer in touch with the bodies they govern, then they have become ineffective. This applies to any situation in which one group has control over another, from the U.S. Congress, to state and local governments, and even school boards and administrators. Student life is entirely regulated by those who are in no way subject to their rules. Many examples of this can be found in school hallways across America. Most hypocrisies are not great travesties of justice, but they lead to a feeling of second-class citizenship among the student body. Little things like not being able to drink a cup of coffee in the hallway degrade students by questioning their ability to complete a simple task without causing problems or difficulties. Unbalanced legislation such as this, where a double standard exists, should be replaced to ensure that the rules serve to protect the well-being of a population. Not simply to oppress him. Another oppression in schools is the use of a permit system to move from room to room. This practice of fully documenting student movements throughout the school day is not only unnecessary, but also impractical. And it can once again lead to students feeling like they can't be trusted because they are inferior to their more senior colleagues. An idea that is inconsistent with a learning environment establishing an attitude of failure before an attempt is even made. This unfair policy should be replaced with an honor system based on students verbally informing those in charge where they will be. Changes like this are often necessary to transform a broken regulatory system into a constructive guide for coexistence. The control of the administration also needs to be changed because in most cases it is composed of professionals with the highest rank in their fields. This in turn means that a lot of time has passed and with it a change between their actual experience of the first twelve years of education and their current state of life..
