Some individuals may decide to spend their free time watching television to satisfy their entertainment, ignoring the fact that they are also missing out on family time. Television can become so addictive that people give it all their attention and forget about communicating with parents, children, siblings, partners, etc. We choose to sit on a couch alone instead of hanging out with people we know. we don't get to see each other as often, talk to a friend on the phone, or have dinner with our family to share each other's day. It may seem unreal, but if we waste time watching too much television we could cause a lack of communication between the people we love. Without knowing it we may distance ourselves further from them and affect the relationship we have built. I can say this for sure because I have experienced it in my past. When I was younger, my favorite thing about coming home from school was that I was free to do whatever I wanted after doing my homework and chores. I choose to sit on the couch and watch TV for the rest of the evening almost every single day. My parents started to notice that I was spending too much time watching TV, but I always denied this and thought there was no such thing as “too much.” Eventually my relationship with my parents started to fail and I noticed that I wasn't communicating anymore
