In the natural sciences it is good that ethical judgments stop the use of certain methodologies because they are intrinsically imperfect and cause too much damage due to the little knowledge they produce. In the arts, knowledge is constantly produced and the only limit to the knowledge that can be produced is that which the artist must convey. The implications of this are that by having an ethical system, humans limit the total amount of knowledge that can be produced, but this is better than the alternative of an unethical society. The only limit to what can be learned or created knowledge is the human ability to imagine. The greater the imagination, the more knowledge that will be produced by the artist without any attention paid to the ethical judgment of society as many arts are designed to criticize a problem with the ethics of society. Ultimately, ethics are limiting, but necessary for the sanctity of society
