One day two friends Mike and Lily decided that they wanted to travel somewhere, they thought, and they thought, and they thought that in the end they decided to choose Peru. A few days later they arrived in Lima, but it was very late so they went to a local restaurant called surf and turf dinner. Lily got the lomo satedo, which is sautéed beef, onions, peppers, tomatoes and potatoes. This is one of the most popular dishes in Lima. Mike got the arroz tapado which is a rice dish with lots of beef and lots of different vegetables in the middle. The second night they saw MOLD growing in their hotel! This is due to the fact that the air is made up of 80% water, which makes for a humid climate in which mold grows quickly. So they changed hotels. On the third day they went downtown to take a look at the shops on the Street, it was crazy hot! They saw many homeless people in serious conditions. Homeless people don't have enough money to get proper care, so they get sick very often from the sun. On the fourth day they had to buy cooler clothes, so they bought shorts, t-shirts and flip flops, just like the locals wear. They bought flip flops instead of sneakers because if they bought sneakers their feet would sweat! By the fifth day they were running out of organic foods, so they took a day trip to a farm where they bought beef, pork, lamb and chicken. They also bought vegetables such as beans, tomatoes and carrots. On the sixth day they went to the museum of archaeology, anthology and history. This museum was founded in 1862. This museum displays some of the earliest ceramics, tiles, metals, and organic materials. Most of the ceramics cost $10,000 each! On the seventh day they left for Altiplano, a city in the plains of Peru. On the eighth day I wanted to try some ethnicity... middle of paper... eh, it's the most humid place other than Iquitos. It rains more in July and less in February. I thought it would be the opposite! The last thing Paul taught us before we took a car to Iquitos was that they would cut stairs into the mountain so we could farm on flat ground and not up a steep mountain. The mountain is divided into three parts: lower, middle and upper. At the bottom grow peppers, onions, tomatoes. Potatoes grow in the center and livestock grow at the top. As they set out on an 11-day road trip to Iquitos, where the final stop was, they *went to sleep*. They finally arrived in Iqiutos where they went to a small museum where they talked about how the area of Iquitos was not found until 1638. Four languages popular today arrived in Iquitos in 1673: Spanish, Quechua, Portuguese and Dutch. Then they went to dinner where Lily and Mike both received the inchicapi
