Are our recycling efforts worth it? Recycling has always been about helping the environment have a sustainable community, it's the number one thing we can do for the environment, the economy and our future for this planet. In this essay I will write why recycling is important. And why it is worth working to ensure a sustainable environment for future generations. The benefits of recycling are many and include reducing waste sent to landfill, preventing pollution, and economic benefits that create jobs in the recycling and manufacturing sectors. Society should recycle to avoid and control global warming. With this in mind, carbon dioxide is the main cause of this global warming. Humans recycle to reduce air pollution. Our environment is already contaminated and the last thing we need is to make the situation worse and contaminate it more (“How to Recycle Plastic” Intelligent Mag). We can all start recycling in our homes to help our planet earth. Basically people have the idea that recycling reduces waste being sent to recycling stations and incinerators, that's true... generally no one wants a landfill or incinerator built in our community (“Recycling Basics ” Recycling Green House). For many of us, recycling has become part of our daily lives. We know that recycling saves space in our landfills. The materials that are ultimately sent to landfills have negative environmental impacts. Once the material reaches the landfill, the environmental impact increases in the form of contaminants and greenhouse gas emissions caused by the decomposition of organic material that reaches the air, soil and groundwater.
