Life experiences, whether rewarding or difficult, are the factors that influence us. My great-grandmother has always been one of my key role models. I have always admired his independence, his strong will and his caring nature towards everyone. For many years she proudly lived alone and cared for herself independently. At seventeen he became seriously ill. When she became seriously ill, my family realized that someone needed to be with her incessantly, so my family and I moved to my great-grandmother's house to provide her with quality care and make her feel comfortable. Living in my great-grandmother's house for the last six months of her life was the most emotionally and physically difficult experience I had ever had to endure or face, but it was the most rewarding and influential experience of my entire life . great-grandmother was physically stressful. Since she was immobilized, my family and I had the responsibility to assist her when she needed to be transported to a different location. Because my siblings were too young and my father worked full time, my mother, a registered nurse, and I mostly had to physically struggle with moving her around the house and to her various doctor's appointments each week. We also had the physical stress of keeping her healthy and clean by bathing her and preparing nutritious meals suited to her diabetic diet. While the physical aspect was a burden, the most exhausting part of caring for my great-grandmother was the emotional component. Not only did I hate that she, my role model and best friend, suffered from these debilitating disorders, I also hated that she wasn't able to be who she truly was. Ever since I was a child, I have always remembered my great-grandmother... middle of paper... physically there for them as a skilled and caring nurse. Throughout this life, I have encountered many difficult situations, yet the most challenging of these situations has been the most influential and rewarding. I experienced immeasurable stress caring for my great-grandmother; it was the most difficult situation I have ever had to face in my life, but it was the most rewarding because I learned to manage my emotions when caring for someone and I was able to be there for my great-grandmother. Furthermore, I decided to become a nurse. Although nursing is a profession subject to many emotional and physical pressures due to the pain and suffering experienced daily through medical patient care, I know that I will be able to confidently manage my emotions and be a strong advocate of my dear patient and the patient.
