A psychic detective is defined as a person who investigates wrongdoing using his or her alleged paranormal psychic abilities. A number of people claim to possess psychic abilities that have entitled them to use the police to solve kidnapping and murder cases or to locate a body. Police departments generally say they do not use psychics in police investigations or keep records related to such activities. In murder cases, psychic investigators often claim to communicate with the spirits of the murder victims. As skeptics point out, however, none of the alleged paranormal powers have been proven to exist. In 1993, a survey was administered to the police departments of the 50 largest cities in America. About a third had used psychics, but none of the verbalized psychics provided more actionable information than that from other sources. In researching this topic I found many cases that seemed to reinforce the use of psychics in resolving wrongdoings. However, further research in each case showed that the usefulness of the psychic was questionable. For example, psychic Dorothy Allison worked with police on the 1978 John Wayne Gacy case in Illinois, USA. His involution is well documented and is widely reported to have played a role in resolving the evil. A deeper investigation shows that he didn't actually contribute anything of value and most likely hindered the investigation more than benefited it. Efforts to find out whether or not psychic investigators can do what they claim have indicated that there is something miniscule or nothing there. Martin Reiser, former director of behavioral services for the Los Angeles Police Department, published the results of his research... in the middle of the paper... the hearing of the case was surprising. Debbie was taken to the cabin where they had mentally conceived Maria Scott had met her death, and despite the fact that much of the cabin had been transmuted, Malone identified the layout as it was when Scott died. She was able to locate the place where the knife was found, even though the drain pipe in which it was clouded had been moved along with the sink during the renovation work. Malone pointed out many details of objects and events that occurred during the murder, some of which confirmed the facts. kenned and others explaining how events unfolded. Most surprising was her perplexity when she felt the assassin pass through her while she was in space. He explained that only ghosts can have such an effect. This was before Senior Detective Constable Little told Debbie that Brown had committed suicide a few weeks after moving to Queensland..
